Tamako was born in Asahikawa, Japan where she commenced her classical ballet training at the Uchiyama Ballet Studio. In 1985 she was accepted into the Académie de Danse Classique Princesse Grace de Monaco where she would continue her studies with Marika Besobrasova. In 1986 she won the Second Prize Johnson Scholarship at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne and two years later the 4th place Junior Prize  at the International Ballet Competition in Varna. A year later she joined the Stuttgart Ballet under the direction of Marcia Haydée. In 1996 Richard Cragun invited her to join the Deutsche Oper Berlin as a Soloist and a year later she was promoted to Principal dancer. In 1999 she joined the Compañia Nacional de Danza in Madrid under the direction of Nacho Duato where she was quickly named principal dancer. In 2006 she was nominated for the prestigious Benois de La Danse Awards and was invited by Manuel Legris to take part of the gala «The New Universe of Manuel Legris» in Tokyo, Vienna and later in 2014 in Paris.  Since June 2014 she has worked as a freelance artist, performing and giving workshops throughout Europe and Asia. She has assisted to, created and danced with Dimo Kirilov Milev «Aimless» which won the International Competition for Choreography Burgos and New York in July 2013. Since 2017 Tamako is working as a rehearsal director for NDT1.

At Origen she danced in «Nihil, Nihil, Hill» (2023) by Charlie Skuy.
