MILAN SILJANOV

 

The Zurich bass-baritone Milan Siljanov won 2nd prize and the audience award at the 67th International ARD Competition in Munich in 2018. He studied singing at the Zurich University of the Arts and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama with Prof. Rudolf Piernay. His greatest successes include winning the Wigmore Hall Song Competition 2015 and the 50th International Vocal Competition in s'Hertogenbosch the year before.


Since the 2018/2019 season he has been a member of the ensemble of the Bavarian State Opera, where he can be heard as Leporello in Mozart's «Don Giovanni», Montano in the new production of Verdi's «Otello», Antonio in «Le nozze di Figaro», Peter Besenbinder in «Hansel and Gretel», the narrator in «Die Zauberflöte» and Schaunard in «La Bohème». He has worked with conductors such as Kirill Petrenko, Valery Gergiev, Ivor Bolton, Simone Young, Constantinos Carydis, Omer Meir Welber, Erik Nielsen, Joshua Weilerstein and Daniele Callegari. 

 
Highlights of the 2020/2021 season include the role debuts as Dulcamara in «L'elisir d'amore» and Donner in «Das Rheingold» at the Bavarian State Opera. Other highlights include Bach's St. Matthew Passion with the Orchestra La Scintilla and the Zurich Sing-Akademie in the KKL and Tonhalle Zurich, as well as a BR Klassik recording of Bellini's «I Capuleti e i Montecchi» with the Munich Radio Orchestra.
