began his career in classical singing at the age of 8 as a member of the Knabenkantorei Basel. He had his vocal training with Annemarie Burkhard in Basel. Subsequently he took classes for early music with William Dickinson in Winterthur.

Apart from performances as a soloist abroad and at home, Michael Freud is part of several professional singing ensembles in Switzerland. He is part of the Ensemble in Freiburg, the Capella Murensis at the monastery Muri, the Origen Ensemble, the Vocal Ensemble Zurich and the Baseler Vokalsolisten.
