MATHIS KOCH

The harpist and bass-baritone Mathis Koch grew up in a family of musicians in Herford, received his first harp lessons at the age of seven and gained singing experience in various choirs at an early age. He studied harp with Godelieve Schrama at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold and voice with Heiner Eckels, Lars Woldt, Mario Zeffiri and Manuel Lange. Mathis Koch is a much sought-after concert and oratorio singer whose repertoire covers all epochs beyond the main focus of Bach cantatas. Furthermore, he sings in numerous renowned ensembles; among them the Rundfunkchor Berlin and the Kammerchor Stuttgart. He can also be seen time and again in opera productions; for example as Pandolfe in Massenet's «Cendrillon», as Háraschta in Janáčeks «Das schlaue Füchslein» and as Jupiter in Offenbach's «Orpheus in der Unterwelt».
