began his singing education as a memeber of the Solothurner Singknaben in Solothurn, where he was born. As a student of Richard Levitt he began his vocal studies at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensiswith Prof. Ulrich Messthaler and graduated successfully in 2010. He also took classes with Andrea Scholl and Margreet Honig. Jan Börner performs as a soloist mainly music of the Renaissance and Baroque era and is part of several vocal ensembles. Such as the Ricercar Consort, the Cantus Firmus and the «Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen». He works as a vocal coach with the Solothurner Singknaben since 2007. Jan Börner has won the study prize of the Migros-Kulturprozent and was awarded several prizes in the region of Solothurn.
