HERODES
The play Herodes recounts Herods' last days. Herod brought his sons before a court and put them on trial. The Roman Emperor has granted him the right to execute his sons if the suspicion of high treason confirmed itself. He accuses his sons in a great trial and sentences them to death. Herod's first wife demands the right of the firstborn for her son and begs for her life as she recognizes her husband's uncompromising will. The Hasmonean princess, Herod's second wife, demands the throne for her own son, referring to his royal lineage. The family drama takes its course. This piece will be performed in the new Red Tower on the Julierpass.
